What to do if you find a stray animal
Please be aware that we can only take animals into the shelter when they come in via the police and only those found in the towns that have contracted the service: Pilar de la Horadada, San Pedro del Pinatar, Torre Pacheco, Los Alcázares and Mazarrón. If you find a stray dog in one of these towns, call the local police and they will arrange for it to be taken to Los Infiernos shelter. We cannot collect the animal until the police has made a report and notified us.
If you have found a stray animal in a different municipality, we are very sorry but we aren't able to help. We advise you to ask for help to other rescues that work in the area. As much as we would like to help every animal in need, the reality is that we already have more than we can cope with just with the dogs that come in via the police and we have more coming in on a daily basis. Therefore we must be strict with these rules, even when it is one of our volunteers who needs help. Thank you for understanding.
We do offer boarding kennel services for rescue dogs at a reduced cost, but the animal must remain the responsability of the rescuer. The animal must be microchipped in your name, vaccinated, wormed and we will ask you to sign a boarding contract. It is your responsability to make sure that the dog receives the veterinary treatment it needs, and of course we will share the dog on our pages and networks and help you get the dog rehomed.
